Age requirements: Children must be at least 5 years old to travel as an UM on Alaska Airlines Unaccompanied Minor. Children ages 5 through 12 must use the Junior Jetsetter unaccompanied minor program. Children ages 13 through 17 may use the Junior Jetsetter program, but it is optional.
Fees: The UM service fee is $50 each way for nonstop or direct flights and $75 each way for connecting flights. The fee is waived for children who have attained MVP, MVP Gold, Gold 75k, or Gold 100k Mileage Plan status.
Restrictions: UMs are not allowed to travel between 9pm and 5am. They are also not allowed to connect to the last flight of the day, or have layovers of more than 2 hours.
Guarantor: A parent or guardian must meet the UM at the departure airport and provide contact information for someone who will meet the UM at the arrival airport.
Gate escort: The UM will be escorted to the gate by an Alaska Airlines employee and will be met by an Alaska Airlines employee at the arrival gate.
In addition to these policies, Alaska Airlines also has a few additional requirements for UMs:
* The UM must be able to understand and follow instructions.
* The UM must be able to provide their name, date of birth, and contact information for their parent or guardian.
The UM must be able to show proof of age, such as a birth certificate or passport.
If you are planning to travel with an UM on Alaska Airlines, I recommend that you contact the airline as soon as possible to book your flight and to discuss the specific requirements for your child.
