Blizzard has confirmed that the long-awaited Ahn’Qiraj update for World of Warcraft Classic will be released on July 28.

“We’re putting the finishing touches on the next patch for WoW Classic. Version 1.13.5 will go live in July,” reads a post from a Blizzard community manager on the World of Warcraft forums. “With that patch, we’ll be ready to unlock the content we’ve been testing on the PTR. The Ahn’Qiraj content will unlock with the weekly raid reset on July 28 for all realms in this region. At that time, players can begin the quest chain to craft a Scepter of the Shifting Sands, and players can turn in gathered resources to advance the Ahn’Qiraj war effort. Once both of those activities are completed on a given realm, the gates of Ahn’Qiraj will be available to be opened. We’ll see you there!”

Blizzard has already been testing elements of the new content, including AQ’s 20-man instance. Additionally, the developers held a stress test on the public test realm earlier this month as a way to see what capacity servers had to handle the infamous AQ gate opening event that was plagued with lag when it originally happened during Vanilla in 2006. While much of the phase five content is being tested, Blizzard announced that the larger 40-man Ahn’Qiraj raid instance, including final boss C’thun, won’t be available for testing. This will prevent top guilds looking to achieve “World First” kills from being able to effectively practice the raid repeatedly prior to its release.

With plenty of bosses, tehre’s plenty of opportunity for players to earn some powerful gear and otherwise-unobtainable items. Multiple mounts are available within the raids, for example, as well as a craftable Tier 2.5 armor set utilizing Qiraji Tokens, Scarabs, and Idols.
